His performance quickly gained attention, leading to a 10-month tour across the United States. Following this success, he joined "Legends a Tribute to the Superstars" for a tour of Australia in 1996, earning the moniker "Nearly Neil."
The Australian tour was a resounding success, paving the way for international performances in Malaysia, the United States, Europe, and Australia. Notably, the band was honored with a Royal Command performance for the King and Queen of Malaysia. Upon their return to Canada, Bruce and his band, 'Nearly Neil and the Solitary Band,' continued to captivate audiences worldwide.
Recognized for his authentic portrayal of Neil Diamond, Bruce received the 'Entertainer of the Year Award' from the Pacific National Exhibition in 2006. He was nominated for the "Best International Touring Artist" at the ACE Awards in Sydney, Australia, in 2012 and 2013.
Now residing on Gambier Island, Bobby and his wife, Leanne, are active community members. They are known for their innovative contributions during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, which earned them the BC Medal of Good Citizenship. He continues to fundraise for the local Community Centre with 'Commotion on the Ocean,' a series of concerts on a boat in Howe Sound.
